Kathy Casimir MacLean

Chair

I was born in Dominica but live in London in the UK. I worked in education for many years as a teacher, an Education Officer in the London Borough of Wandsworth where I was Head of the Ethnic Minority Achievement Service, on retirement from this post I took up a part time post as a lecturer at Goldsmiths University and went on to lecture on the Teach First programme at the UCL Institute of Education. In retirement I have continued to involve myself in education in a voluntary capacity as Chair of Governors in a local school and as education director for a company which takes children’s literature into schools. I am passionate about Dominica and that all children should have the opportunity to receive a quality education. Working with DASSSA enables me to support Dominican schools in a practical way. I have written the biography of my grandfather JJ Ralph Casimir which will be published by Papillote Press in 2022.
