On Tuesday 17th September, DASSSA successfully delivered to every secondary school in Dominica, a brand new WiFi capable Epson projector to aid in the learning development of our young people.
Held at the Goodwill Secondary school, on the grounds of the Dominica Grammar school since Hurricane maria in 2017, the handover ceremony was presented by Shirley Charles formerly of Orion Academy, DASSSA Vice-Chairperson Mrs Kathy Casimir MacLean and Resident DASSSA member, Mr Milner Francis.
The donation from DASSSA was the culmination of three months work, starting with our Annual Sponsored Walk in May 2019 which raised just about £2,500 from our valued supporters and donors from the UK, Canada, USA and Europe.
Although only raising half of our projected target and cost of these projectors, we were able to fund the shortfall as we pride ourselves on delivering on our publicly stated objectives. This ethos solidifies trust amongst our donors and supporters and we hope, encourages further contributions. We are especially grateful to those who have set-up monthly contributions to our Association via our website or mobile text.
DASSSA, would like to Express thanks and gratitude to all those who made this possible and successful, including first and foremost the DASSSA donors, board members and supporters, The Dominica Ministry of Education, the School Principals, ITforDominica, Gee Shipping, Ms Edina Darwton, Principal of Goodwill Secondary school, Ms Shirley Charles for a wonderful presentation and to the media houses who attended, we say thank you.
